Some of the best ways to learn what a town values are the days it shows up together. On Saturday, November 7, 2026, downtown Grand Junction hosts the Veterans Day Parade & Block Party, with the parade stepping off at 2:00 p.m. and the block party running from about 11:30 a.m. along Main Street between 3rd and 4th Streets.

The event is hosted by the Steadfast Valor Foundation, and this year's theme is "250 Years Defending Freedom," a nod to the nation's 250th anniversary. The block party is free and family friendly, with veteran organizations, local businesses, nonprofits, and community groups on hand, along with food vendors, interactive exhibits, and entertainment. The party stays open while the parade rolls by, so you can wander the booths, grab a bite, and still find a spot on the curb.

It has become a tradition people plan around. Local news coverage of last year's parade described a record turnout with nearly 50 floats, which says something about how many neighbors, clubs, and businesses want to be part of it.

The week around Veterans Day also brings other chances to honor those who served, including a ceremony at Fruita's Vietnam Veterans Park on Veterans Day itself in past years. Since dates and times can shift, it's worth checking with the organizers or the Downtown Grand Junction events calendar before you head out.

If you're new to the Western Slope, or just thinking about it, a day like this is a good window into daily life here: a walkable downtown, a Main Street that closes for community, and neighbors who turn out for one another. Hope to see you downtown.
