Clayton Smith
I'm Clayton! I love spending time with my wife and two daughters, and we have 3 dogs! One mixed breed, and two young French Bulldogs. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV, and escaped to be closer to the mountains right after graduating high school. My love of snowboarding, mountain biking, and riding motorcycles were the biggest catalysts for that move. After spending several years in Salt Lake City, I accepted a work opportunity which relocated me to Denver, and provided a chance at a whole new adventure!
After living in Denver for several years, my wife and I found ourselves yearning for a change. We were leaving the city pretty much every weekend to camp, mountain bike, and dirt bike in our awesome mountain towns. My wife and I always had a vision and goal to live in a smaller community where we could enjoy all of these things, but also give back and contribute to the community. One day on a drive back to Denver, I recalled some advice my grandmother gave me when I was about 18 years old. She said "never live in a place you don't want to live for a job. Live where you want to live, and you will figure the money out." I decided to take that advice for the second time in my life, and we moved to Grand Junction.
Grand Junction really checked all of the boxes of our want list. It's a smaller community like the one my wife grew up in, and one I wanted. We also really enjoy the milder winters, easy access to some of our favorite trails out of anywhere we've ridden, and the "day trip radius" around Grand Junction is second to none. We can be in Moab, high up in Colorado's biggest mountains, floating the river, or out twisting throttles on incredible scenic back roads all within a short trip. Since being in Grand Junction, we have also taken up competitive pistol shooting, and are enjoying paddle boarding on the Colorado River.
Along with the move to Grand Junction came a career change. Real estate is something I have always been interested in, and finally decided to pursue. Owning real estate has easily been one of the biggest contributors to our own financial independence, and I want to help others achieve that as well. Prior to being in real estate I have worked in several adjacent fields as well as home product businesses, most recently in the residential solar industry. My knowledge of PV solar, HVAC, plumbing, windows and roofing will all help me be a more knowledgeable agent for home buyers and sellers, and the sales experience I gained along the way will help me be an effective negotiator.
One thing I really value about The Christi Reece Group is our Circle Fund, which is a very generous donation program for local non-profits on a quarterly basis. My wife and I have found our own opportunities to give back to the community through our local trail organization, COPMOBA. I'm a business partner with COPMOBA, as well as a volunteer, and with Habitat for Humanity.
Thanks for getting to know me! I hope to get to know you better, and learn how I can help you find the perfect home in our Grand Valley paradise!
