Carey Matthews (Mattie)

I was born in San Antonio, TX, then lived in England and Florida - world travel courtesy of my father's military service in the Air Force. After he retired, our family moved back to Ohio to the area my parents grew up. I attended Wright State University in Dayton, OH where I received a BFA in Acting. Shortly after graduating, I moved to St. Paul, MN with my partner Jim and lived there for almost 20 years. In the Twin Cities, I worked in non-profit administration at an art museum and an AIDS charity bike ride. I then spent 12 years at a craft brewery doing marketing, events, and public relations.

In early 2016, we had a son on a very cold night in February. So cold that the hatchback door handle broke from the frigid temps on our FIRST visit to the hospital earlier that morning. After surviving two more Minnesota winters, we moved to Grand Junction in 2018, joining other family members on Jim's side, also transplants to the Grand Valley.

We love being around family and the MUCH more temperate weather that Western Colorado offers up. The access to year-round outdoor recreation still makes us pinch ourselves to make sure it's real. We became homeowners in the spring of 2021, with the full support of CRG at our side. Going through the home buying process with CRG was a tremendous learning experience and inspires me every day to help our clients. The customer service, creativity, forward-thinking, and community-minded ethos of CRG is what attracted me to this team. Those tenets motivate me on a daily basis - along with working with such a passionate and kind group of people!
